Sourced
with care

For the Imprint series, I mainly work with plants that I’ve grown and enjoy in my own garden, while others are gathered from the gardens of friends and family who kindly let me take small cuttings.
The cow parsley, buttercups and other more 'wild' blooms are only ever taken in very small amounts, often just a few stems or flower heads from an area where there may be hundreds, sometimes thousands, growing naturally. I harvest very consciously in order not to damage the plant or its surroundings.
As a general principle, I follow a “one in twenty” approach, taking no more than a small fraction so that the landscape remains full and thriving for wildlife and for others to enjoy.
And I’m careful to avoid protected sites or sensitive species such as woodland bluebells.
Each imprint is a small record of a place and a season, gathered slowly and respectfully.
