Process

Each piece begins with the beautiful Earthstone Stoneware clay, coiled or sculpted by hand without the use of a wheel.

Forms are built in stages, allowing them to develop intuitively over time.

Surface is layered and developed through marking, texture, imprinting, decals, oxides and brushed on glazes, with each stage building depth and variation. Multiple firings vitrify the clay.

Each piece is developed over several weeks. No two are ever the same.

For the Imprint series, flowers, leaves and stems are collected ethically from my own garden or with permission from friends and family. Most of the pieces are created using real seasonal plant material pressed directly into the clay, capturing fleeting botanical details before they disappear. Because these impressions are taken from living plants, every piece is entirely unique.

I also create Textured Press pieces using hand-rolled botanical texture tools.​​
